- If you’re hungry, chug a glass of water. Drink as much water anytime and as much as you want.
- So many options! Remember that water has different temperatures. Iced, room temp, warm, hot. Or even sparkling water without additives. Enjoy the variety!
- Occasional coffee is okay, but it’s addictive. Try weaning yourself off of coffee slowly by caffeine level – to tea, and eventually water. Drink however much water or tea, as the amount of milk and sugar are limited (honey is a better sweetener alternative).
- Smoothies and juices are good… if they contain mostly vegetables. Blended beverages often market themselves as healthy. Watch out for smoothies and juices that are mostly fruits. They are too sweet and less healthy. Açai bowls are also mostly fruits and should be eaten in moderation. Our family has been experimenting with juicing for occasional dinners – making sure that more than 50% of what gets juiced are vegetables. Carrot-orange juice and cucumber-apple juices are our favorites.
- Alcohol – you don’t need it. Talk to an expert if you have trouble consuming less alcohol. :)
