Assume carbs are bad. Carbs are a complicated group to sift through. To simplify our mental model, we refer “carbs” as processed carbs that typically accompany meals, such as bread, tortilla wraps, buns, pasta, rice, noodles, etc. – anything that started as flour.
Carb = sugar. Sugar = drug. Carbohydrate gets processed by the body as sugar. Consuming any kinds of sugar makes the body and the brain crave more sugar. That is the definition of a drug addiction. Eating bad carbs will always make you crave more sugar. Avoid the first bite and choose a different food.
Excess sugar from carbs is stored as fat. The body uses some sugar for immediate energy, but any extra carbs is stored as fat for later. Learn from endurance athletes who carb load the night before their race. If you eat carbs, help your body use it up and do a long work out afterwards.
Carb is cheap for businesses to sell. Carb is typically used to transport good food.
- Burrito wrap: contains meat and vegetables inside
- Pizza dough: holds pizza sauce and toppings
- Rice: gives curry sauce more substance
Grab a fork, cheat the system – just eat the good stuff that the carb is holding. Don’t feel bad about throwing away the carb because it was going to harm your body anyways.
Sweet potatoes are the ideal complex carb to eat. Eat this to feel more full, especially to supplement lighter vegetables such as salad. Avoid potatoes. Avoid corn.
